The key detail: all processing happens on-device. Your messages are never sent to Meta's servers for summarization. End-to-end encryption is maintained throughout. This feature is currently rolling out through Meta's Early Access Program before wider availability.

How Does Neural Handwriting Work?

This one is exclusive to the Meta Ray-Ban Display — the model with an in-lens screen. Write with your finger on any surface (a desk, your thigh, even mid-air) and the text appears as a message. The technology uses EMG (electromyography) to detect the electrical signals from your finger muscles, translating movements into characters.

Neural handwriting works across Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and native Android and iOS messaging apps. The primary use case: replying to messages silently in situations where speaking aloud isn't appropriate — meetings, public transit, or late at night.
