Samsung's Senior VP and Head of Digital Health, Dr. Hon Pak, officially confirmed the Galaxy Ring 2 is in active development. In a Forbes interview, when asked about iPhone compatibility, Pak said: "I'm smiling, but I can't say anything" — the strongest hint yet that Samsung may break the Android-only restriction.
What We Know So Far
- Status: Confirmed in development, no launch date set
- iOS support: Strongly hinted but not confirmed
- Timeline: Early 2027 is the consensus estimate
- Patent issue: Oura's ITC complaint remains pending
Why It Matters
iOS compatibility would be a game-changer. The current Galaxy Ring ($399) works only with Android, limiting Samsung's addressable market. If Ring 2 supports iPhone, it becomes the first major smart ring to compete with Oura across both ecosystems. However, the ongoing Oura patent dispute at the US ITC could delay or complicate the launch.
Should You Wait?
With Ring 2 at least 6+ months away and the patent situation unresolved, buying now makes more sense than waiting. The Oura Ring 5 at $399 and RingConn Gen 3 at $349 (no subscription) are the smart ring picks today. Compare all options in our smart rings guide.
