The Samsung Galaxy Ring 2 may be in deeper trouble than previously reported. According to SamMobile and TechRadar, Oura has filed an International Trade Commission (ITC) complaint against Samsung, Reebok, Zepp Health (Amazfit), and Nexxbase (Luna Ring) for patent infringement — escalating what was already a contentious legal dispute.
The Patent Dispute Timeline
- November 2025: Oura first filed patent claims against Samsung Galaxy Ring
- Early 2026: Samsung countered with its own patent filings
- March 2026: Oura escalates with an ITC complaint affecting multiple companies
An ITC complaint is particularly serious — it can result in import bans, as we saw when Ultrahuman Ring Air was blocked from US sale in late 2025.
What This Means for Galaxy Ring 2
Analysts quoted by TechRadar now expect the Galaxy Ring 2 to be pushed to late 2026 at the earliest, possibly 2027. Samsung's strategy appears to be redesigning disputed elements, but that takes time.
Should You Buy the Original Galaxy Ring Now?
This uncertainty doesn't make the current Samsung Galaxy Ring a bad buy — it's still a solid product for Galaxy phone users. But if you were holding out for the Ring 2, you may be waiting longer than expected. Compare all options at our smart ring comparison page.
