Samsung has officially rolled out blood pressure monitoring to Galaxy Watch users in the United States via a Samsung Health Monitor app update. The feature — which has been available in South Korea since 2020 — is now accessible on the Galaxy Watch 7, Watch Ultra, and Watch 8 series for US users.
How It Works
- Calibration required: Users must calibrate against a traditional cuff-based blood pressure monitor every 28 days
- Measurement: Uses pulse wave analysis via the optical heart rate sensor to estimate systolic and diastolic pressure
- Frequency: On-demand readings — not continuous monitoring
- Limitations: Designed for trend tracking, not diagnostic use; Samsung notes it cannot replace a medical-grade BP monitor
Which Watches Support It
The feature works on Galaxy Watch 7 (40mm and 44mm), Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch 8, and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Older models like the Galaxy Watch 6 are not supported. A paired Samsung Galaxy phone running One UI 6.0+ is required.
What This Means for Buyers
Blood pressure monitoring has been one of Samsung's key health advantages over the Apple Watch, and its US arrival makes the Galaxy Watch Ultra at $639 on Amazon an even stronger proposition for health-focused Android users. Apple is rumored to bring blood pressure to Watch Series 12 later in 2026, but nothing is confirmed. The Pixel Watch 3 at $247 still lacks this feature.
