Why the Price Jumped

The Steam Frame uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, which is also in massive demand from smartphone makers, AI wearable companies, and automotive manufacturers. According to the report, surging demand for AI compute raised Qualcomm's component costs by roughly 40%, and Valve absorbed some of the increase while passing the rest to consumers.

Reservation signups for the Steam Frame close tomorrow, September 17 at 10:00 AM Pacific. Valve's lottery system randomizes the queue — signing up during the window does not guarantee a launch-day unit. First purchase emails go out September 18.
