Apple Smart Glasses Delayed to Late 2027 — Siri AI Setbacks Push N50 Timeline Back Again
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple has pushed its N50 smart glasses from a late-2026 reveal to a consumer launch at the end of 2027. Siri's visual-AI overhaul remains the primary bottleneck. A slimmer Vision Air headset is now tracking for 2028–2029.

Starting At
$2000
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported on May 31 that Apple has delayed its first pair of AI smart glasses to late 2027, pushing back the internal timeline from a planned late-2026 announcement and early-2027 ship date. Multiple leakers corroborated the report the same day.
Why the Delay?
The N50 smart glasses depend heavily on Apple's revamped Siri assistant, which has been the single most consistent source of delays across Apple's product roadmap. The foundational visual AI features — the ability to understand what the camera sees and respond intelligently — are proving harder to perfect than Apple anticipated.
What We Know About N50
- Design: Oval-shaped cameras, unique colors, and four different frame styles
- Features: Built-in cameras for photos and video, speakers and microphones for music, calls, and Siri notifications — similar in concept to Meta Ray-Ban
- AI focus: Powered by Apple Intelligence rather than full AR displays
- No display: Unlike the Vision Pro, these will function as an iPhone companion for everyday tasks
Vision Air Also Delayed
Gurman also reports that Apple has redirected resources into a slimmer, lighter, and more affordable Vision Pro successor — possibly called "Vision Air" — now tracking for late 2028 or 2029.
What This Means for Buyers
If you're waiting for Apple to enter the smart glasses market, you're looking at 18+ months minimum. In the meantime, the Meta Ray-Ban at $379 offers the closest experience to what Apple is building, while the Even Realities G2 provides a display-first alternative.
