Korea Times: Samsung Galaxy Glasses Pricing Strategy Key to Breaking Meta's 84% Smart Glasses Market Grip
Korea Times reports that pricing will be the decisive factor as Samsung enters the smart glasses market against Meta's commanding 84% market share. With Meta's new own-brand Glasses starting at $299 and Ray-Ban Meta at $379, Samsung's Galaxy Glasses at $379–$499 must justify a premium through Gemini AI, Android XR ecosystem depth, and fashion partnerships with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

Starting At
$379
The Korea Times published a market analysis on July 17 arguing that pricing will be the decisive factor in whether Samsung can challenge Meta's dominance in the smart glasses market. The report comes four days before Galaxy Unpacked on July 22 where Samsung will unveil its Galaxy Glasses.
Meta's Commanding Lead
In the display-free smart glasses segment, Meta holds 84% market share as of Q1 2026. The company has sold over 10 million Ray-Ban Meta units since 2023 and recently launched its own-brand Meta Glasses at $299 — $80 less than the Ray-Ban-branded models — to broaden the addressable market.
Samsung's Pricing Dilemma
Samsung's Galaxy Glasses are expected to start at $379–$499, putting them at or above the Ray-Ban Meta price point. That means Samsung cannot compete on price alone. Instead, the Korea Times argues Samsung is betting on three differentiators:
- Gemini AI on Android XR: Google's multimodal assistant as the primary interface, offering deeper integration with Google Maps, Search, and Translate than Meta AI
- Fashion partnerships: Gentle Monster and Warby Parker frame designs targeting both trendy and classic aesthetics
- Galaxy ecosystem: Integration with Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Ring, and Samsung Health that Meta cannot match
What This Means for Buyers
If you are choosing between Samsung Galaxy Glasses and Meta's lineup, the decision now splits three ways: Meta Glasses at $299 for budget-conscious buyers, Ray-Ban Meta at $379 for proven hardware with prescription lens options, or Galaxy Glasses at $379+ for Android/Google ecosystem users.
