Snap's SPECS launch event took place September 16 in Los Angeles, and the headline is now official: the $2,195 standalone AR glasses ship in October in the US, UK, and France.

CEO Evan Spiegel demoed the full product on stage, covering AI assistance (powered by OpenAI and Google Gemini), productivity tools, entertainment, and shared AR experiences. Attendees were the first outside Snap to wear shipping hardware — not prototypes.

The Battery Question

The biggest concern remains battery life. Snap rates SPECS at up to 4 hours of mixed use, but attendees who tested intensive AR apps noted faster drain. Snap says a companion charging case (sold separately) provides an additional charge, and the magnetic charging cable allows quick top-ups between sessions.
