Snap Specs Launch Event Tomorrow at 4PM PT: First Hands-On With $2,195 AR Glasses

Tomorrow is the day. Snap's launch event for SPECS — its $2,195 standalone AR glasses — takes place Wednesday, September 16 at 4:00 PM PT in Los Angeles. A livestream will be available at specs.com/launch.

What to Expect

CEO Evan Spiegel will deliver the first in-depth public look at SPECS hardware and software, demonstrating AI assistance, productivity tools, entertainment, and shared AR experiences. This is the first time anyone outside Snap will wear the shipping hardware — the June AWE unveiling had no demo units.

Hardware Specs

SPECS are powered by two Snapdragon processors with hand and eye tracking plus transparent displays that overlay digital content onto the real world. Battery life is rated at 4 hours. The glasses are standalone — no phone tether required.

At $2,195, SPECS are a developer-priced product competing against the Meta Ray-Ban at $379 — a very different value proposition. Wait for tomorrow's hands-on impressions before committing.
